There’s a quiet shift happening in the wedding world. Couples are choosing depth over scale – smaller guest lists, fewer obligations, and more time with the people they love most. The micro wedding isn’t a compromise.
For many couples, it’s the wedding they wished they’d given themselves permission to plan all along.
Our 2026-2027 Intimate Wedding Package was designed for exactly this – up to 50 guests, every detail considered, and the freedom to be fully present on the day.

Why micro weddings are having a moment
The traditional wedding script asks couples to host everyone they’ve ever known. The micro wedding rewrites it. Instead of inviting 150 guests and getting a few rushed minutes with each one, you can spend real time with the 30, 40 or 50 people who matter most.
Couples tell us the appeal isn’t just about numbers, it’s about what those numbers make possible:
- Longer, slower moments with the people you love
- A bigger budget per guest, meaning better food, better wine, better everything
- More flexibility with dates – mid-week weddings become genuinely possible
- A day that feels like you, not a production
It’s not about doing less. It’s about doing more of what matters.

The myth of the “small” wedding
We hear this often: “We want something small, but we still want it to feel special.”
That word, small, can be misleading. An intimate wedding isn’t a stripped-back version of a big one. Done well, it’s more luxurious. With fewer guests, every element can be elevated – your floral budget stretches further, your menu can be more refined, you can afford the photographer or styling you’d otherwise have to compromise on.
And the atmosphere? The toasts are warmer. The dance floor fills faster. Everyone in the room knows why they’re there.

Why Potters is a beautiful fit
When you’re hosting 50 people, the venue matters more, not less. A space that swallows a small group leaves your wedding feeling sparse. Too small and it feels cramped. Potters was designed with this balance in mind.
Our Intimate Wedding Package is hosted in the Atrium room – a light-filled, contemporary space sitting up in the treetops, with floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over our gardens. It holds 30 to 50 guests beautifully. Long banquet tables down the centre, French oak cross-back chairs, soft natural light during the day, fairy lights and candle glow as the evening unfolds.
It feels like a private dining experience with the people you love most – which is, really, exactly what an intimate wedding should be.

Spaces designed for slow, meaningful moments
The Potters property gives an intimate wedding room to breathe. From 10am, the Penthouse Day Room is exclusively yours – a two-storey sanctuary for getting ready, sipping bubbles and easing into the day. An hour before the ceremony, the Wedding Gallery opens for your partner and the rest of the wedding party.
For the ceremony itself, you have three spaces to choose from: the contemporary Chapel, the Garden Gazebo framed by towering gums and Japanese maples, or our signature wisteria-draped courtyard. Each one suits an intimate guest count beautifully – no echoing rows of empty chairs, just your loved ones gathered close.
Pre-dinner drinks and canapés flow naturally into the courtyard before guests are seated in the Atrium. One cohesive location – no transport, no logistical scramble, no lost time.

Still involving everyone you love
The honest worry with a smaller wedding is the guest list conversation. Who makes the cut?
When the concept of your wedding is “intimate,” the rules shift. Distant cousins and work colleagues don’t expect to be invited the way they might to a traditional wedding. The structure itself does some of the explaining for you.
For couples wanting to honour the people who didn’t make the guest list, there are lovely ways to bring them in:
- An engagement party earlier in the year as the bigger, looser celebration
- A post-wedding gathering – drinks or a casual lunch a few weeks later
- Live-streaming the ceremony for family overseas or interstate
- Sharing the day through beautiful photography afterwards
The wedding day itself stays sacred and small. The wider celebration happens around it.

The luxury of being present
This is the part most couples don’t fully appreciate until afterwards: at an intimate wedding, you actually get to be at your wedding.
You’re not making the rounds across 18 tables. You’re sitting down, eating your dinner, laughing with your best friend for more than 30 seconds, dancing with your grandmother, noticing things – the light, the flowers, the way your partner looks at you during the speeches.
A bigger wedding can feel like a wonderful blur. An intimate wedding feels like the day you’ll actually remember.

Mid-week magic
Our Intimate Wedding Package is available Monday to Wednesday year-round, with Thursday to Sunday dates considered within six months of the wedding date.
For many couples, this is a hidden gift.
A Tuesday in autumn, when the Japanese maples are at their peak. A Wednesday in spring, when the wisteria is in bloom. A quiet Monday in winter, with the gas fireplace lit and candles glowing across the long tables. Mid-week weddings are easier to plan, easier on the budget, and the people who come are the people who genuinely prioritise being there.
With on-site accommodation across our suites and wedding suite, your closest people can stay the night and gather for a slow breakfast the next morning. It extends the celebration in the gentlest way.

Come and see it for yourself
The best way to know whether an intimate wedding at Potters is right for you is to walk the property and stand in the spaces. Picture your closest people at one long table in the Atrium. Picture the wisteria above you as you say your vows.
Our team would love to show you around and talk through what an intimate celebration could look like for you. Get in touch to book a personalised tour, or download our 2026-2027 Intimate Wedding Package to start dreaming.
